Neighbor Lady has a problem with the cab overhead lites staying on. What kind of a switch activates them? Don't know what yr but is in the 2000 up range.

Bill,

It should be like the other Fords from that era to present. The light switch is incorporated into the door latch mechanism. There is not a pin switch in the door jam like the older Fords. I would spray some electrical cleaner into latch area, and maybe something like WD-40 since it is "more friendly" to the plastics in there.

I've had the same issue a couple of times on my Excursion. It is the back hatch that doing it. The Ex has 2 lower barn doors, and an upper lift gate for the glass. The lights are triggered by one of the latches in the liftgate. Occasionally when I shut the back, the lights stay on. A quick shot of WD-40 usually takes care of it.

My ranger has the same problem sometimes, the fix is stated above or new switch in the door, which is fun....
