time saver tip ..in most cases automatic transmissions when the front pump seal is leaking ,the bushing behind the seal is the problem ,i have seen many cases ,mechanics have simply replaced the seal thinking they solved the problem ..WRONG the bushing behind the seal holds all the pressure ,(((so rule 1 is leaking seal replace bushing ))),or just install new seal put trans back in truck fill with fluid drive for 2 miles till fluid has leaked out then remove transmission and follow rule 1 hope this tip is helpful saves a tranny r&r

The bushing is commonly over looked as a leak cause high mileage units. In general the tech will change the seal, go down the road and have it blow out again.

But, there is always a but. If the factory spec gray seal is used it could fail any time the tranny gets hot. -cuss Normally the seal will shrink back when the tranny cools. add some fluid, good to go. :D

A good replacement seal is Precision 16601EV. This sucker can survive the heat without any issues.
