...headlight adjustment design as the vans?

My van has a 90 degree angle gear with the vertical adjusting shaft sticking above the headlight. The gear housing is cheap plastic that breaks easily, and doesn't accept repairs very well.

Should I go looking at trucks in a junkyard, or have you guys found a better solution?
