How big is the outer hub? The 50's will have the same size hub as the solid axle 60, which is to say about 4". The 44's are smaller.

I'm pretty certain that that's the case also. I have an early '84 (August '83 build) extended-cab with a Dana 50. IIRC most earlier regular-cab trucks had Dana 44's, but at some point (maybe '86? I'm not sure), you began to see more Dana 50's in regular-cab trucks too... :dunno

Dana 44 is 3.25" hub. Note the gap between the hub and center of the rim

Dana 50/60 is 4" wide hub

The D50 has bigger bearings, bigger shafts, R&P, spindles.....it's all the same size gear as a D60. (The bearings, seals, hubs and locking hub will all interchange between dana 50 and 60.....but won't with a Dana 44.

Correct, F-250 ext cabs had dana 50s automatically. Also they dana 44 in the F-250 was pretty much gone by 92, i wont say completly because there are always exceptions with Fords haha. but ya, 92+ all used the dana 50.

Brad, do you have any specs on those 5-spoke aluminum wheels!?

I...think....I'm....in....LOVE!

And I believe the Dana 50 must have been "optional" in the F250's. My buddy has an 85 regular cab. 6.9/c6 with a Dana 50 front and 70u out back. That took us by surprise when we were trying to re-pack the wheel bearings and change the untra-thin brake rotors...
