Alright guys i have a question. Does it matter what year the dana 60 comes from?. i'm looking at a 1976 truck and i didn't know if the springs are in a different spot on the axles then it would be if it was under our truck or not.

I'll assume you're looking for a front here.
A 76 axle is low pinion, and 30 spline inners, same size as a 44... Not even worth looking at.
What you want for a bolt in is an 85.5-1997 axle. The pumpkin on a 78/9 axle is closer to the centerline of the truck, and will require at a minimum, 6" of lift for clearance, and you will have to re-do the perches as the 70's chassis is narrower.

X2... 85.5-1991 will be kingpin and IMHO the only way to go ;Sweet

yes a 76 is hard to find a 60 in most are external locking hub low pinion 44's I have 3 fords and 3 chevy front like that ( fools alot of of people thinking I got a 60) now 78 and 79 ford trucks had strait axle 60' in them they was usally a "snow fighter" option and a f-350 rarely in a f-250.... they are rare and hard to find but they are out there you can tell buy just looking at them they are a 60 the lock outs are about twice as big as a 44...
