Have a question on the fuel pressure regulator. Should it have a line to the return ? I am worried that the pressure will cause strain on the pump. I finally caved and bought an electric pump after 4 failed manual pumps. I tried to find a tread on it but could not find anything.

I did not run a fuel regulator with my holley, I have a turbo.
You don't have to with the lower volume ones (blue?), but by the time that you get to the largest volume ones (black?) you do have to.

red = 97 gph/7 psi max $160
Blue = 110gph/9 psi $190
black =140 gph/max if 14 psi $280.

its said that right around 10 psi is the pressure that effects the timing in the pump.
i give mine all the fuel, 12+ and time it accordingly.
