Brake booster diagnostics

As a general knowledge question and possibly applicable to my truck.
How does one go about determining the brake booster is bad?

Usually if you hear a whooshing, it's bad.

Stick head up under dash.press brake with hand or head.hear a vacuum leak?yes?its junk.

No not really.
Search booster there are a few excellent wright ups here.
My 88 sucked pondwater' the obs rocks!
There are vacume tests to verify.
