96 psd idle problems

96 psd cranks good cold and hot, but when restarting after its up to operating temp it lope idles. sometimes it will quit on its own then sometimes you have to give it some throttle to clear up. I'm thinking ipr needs resealing. any ideas.

The IPR also has a screen that may need cleaned.
Check cold fuel PSI vs warm PSI.
The spring could be worn out.

I meant FPR, not IPR. Completely different things.

could be icp=injector control pressure sensor .

A quick test for the ICP sensor is to just unplug it.

Also when it's not starting, pull the check plug for the HPOP and see where the oil is. Should be ½-1 inch from the top.

Another thing, when it's not starting, does it make any abnormal sounds while cranking?

And also next time, open the water drain valve and note what happens.

I'm sure I'll think of more later.

After some recent problems with my own truck, I'd look into the IPR. Same symptoms.

When I replaced my fuel pump, I noticed the sensor body was a little loose. Just haven't felt like messing with it yet.
You can get a reseal kit for it though.
