Well, if it sits online much longer, I'm gonna snatch it up for a spare. The engine in my '88 is starting to show signs of old age.

Definitely worth a phone call. Just today lunch, I happened to run into a Ford mechanic in the grocery store and, seeing the dealer uniform, bombarded him with my usual question of will his dealer or anyone he knows work on an '86 6.9. He chuckled and replied that they only work on 6.0's and 6.4s anymore, and asked, "is the 6.9 what they had in '86?"

Pro Mar is selling 7.3s on eBay for something like $3100, and that was the cheapest I'd seen for a full rebuild that anyone stood by.

I bought a Promar engine 7.3 in 2007, nice engine runs good to this day, was $2950 then for long block. See sig. That included shipping both ways.

I have a dealers diesel drop in in my truck. Wouldn't be scared of that at all. Mine has been rock solid for 70k. I paid 4500 for mine though with a 2000 core charge. That was ten years ago. It was complete accept for pulleys and flywheel. Only wish I would have bought the turbo version.
