2001 Excursion runs out of fuel with a 1/4 tank showing on the gauge

Hello all- my Excursion runs out of fuel with the dash gauge showing a 1/4 or slightly less, also the computer will show anywhere from 53-90 miles left before empty,and I never get a low fuel warning light. After it runs out and I shut in engine off and then turn key the dash gauge will show empty and the low fuel light will come on,and the computer will show 0 miles till empty. I've taken to the dealer 3 times and they have not fixed the problem(big suprise). Any ideas.

hmm, for starters, your low fuel light wont come on until your DTE (distance to empty) is around 25 mi. i think. if your puter still says you have 50-60 mi left, it doesnt recognize a problem. i would think your sending unit (with the float) is either bent or faulty, but surely the stealership checked for that. do you know what they did to try and fix your problem?

Yes the dealer replaced sendind unit in the tank, but as far as I know never touched anything in the dash
