1986 F150 300 block stalls at stop!

my brothers truck stalls when he hits the clutch after driving, and idles like crap. we were going to buy a rebuilt carb for it, but trying to do something a little cheaper like doing the rebuild ourselves. so here's the thing...

i beleive when she sits for a little while that the fuel leaks into the intake. what would cause this?

float is sinking... or needle valve leaking...
buy a rebuild kit AND a float...
those single throat Carters are a walk in the park to rebuild...
biggest thing about them, is the base plate comes loose..
if it has an EGR plate, most likely it has a hole rotted in it, causing a vacuum leak.
