What to do first with engine still on the stand??

IMHO no more than 400 hp and you'll be happy. If you want to tow like you say, but want more, just put in a valet switch and use it when towing, then you can have all the fun power when driving it empty.

What to do first with engine still on the stand??

It really depends on what you want to use the truck for as far as bombs go. I use mine almost exclusively for heavy towing at high altitude and anything more than 350 hp I can't seem to keep temps under control at least on my budget. Putting money into 'fuel in' is cheap, plan to spend more on...

    My latest project (PICS!!!)

Hey, looks nice Jeremy. Any trips planned to the dyno soon? So will this be a kit available with just the piping? The wastegate, is it stock? Plugged?

    buying a used 12v...question

Get one from a manual transmission setup. The 97-98 have the 215hp pump. Look for a block that does NOT have a '53' about 1" high just above the oil pan seal on the front side of the block. If you do find a 53, look at the pass. side around cylinder 4 just below the freeze plugs for some...

    Flatbed Trailer bow

Packrat is right. It's called beam camber. It is actually used in structural steel design in many buildings as well. Many of these cambered trailers you will also see that the trailer axles are spread apart farther than normal as well. This spread doesn't really give the trailer any more...

    F-150 question

My work truck is a late '90's (not sure) F-150 3-door with an auto. Couple issues it has: 1. It's basically the community truck, everyone uses it when needed, but most have their own truck. I drive it more than anyone at this point. (read: it has been rode hard and put away wet) 2. The...

    what turbo to run?

The only way I'd believe over 700 hp with the stock turbo intact would be if it were sitting on the work bench having been replaced with something bigger before all that power was added. Mine dyno'd at 370 hp but pegs the pyrometer going over 1500 deg. egt. It just doesn't flow enough air to...

Is this a good deal for this dodge

Check www.nada.com for your area. Find out how much of the tranny is DTT. Contact the installer if you can. Is it a quad cab? LB or SB? Check the fuel pressure if possible. Make sure they aren't dumping one with a VP44 on the way out. Pull the intake hose off the turbo, has the KN intake...

    HTT exhaust manifold ordered.

Be sure to give us a full report on the SOP'o'meter and EGT differences. I'm curious what the real world differences are between this one and the ATS if there are any worth mentioning as far as performance goes. I do like that it comes pre-tapped for the pyro and pre-assembled as well. ;Sweet

    Dodge Dudes

Since my guys are all right here, I might as well announce I am shutting down my business and started a full time job with a structural steel fabricator, erection, excavation and crane construction company. Dodge related you ask? I get to drive my Cummins to work everyday. :peelout I had the...

    need some new injectors

no need to upgrade anything to put in those injectors as far as the pump goes. You will need a pyrometer gauge to watch as they will run hotter in the egt's over stock. Give Piers a call, I'm sure he's got a stock set laying around. Not to mention he could help you pick out another set that...

    What kind Of MPG?

are those hand calculated numbers or the new math that the overhead computer shows? My OH puter only has compass and temp., but my buddies does with the V10 reads 3 mpg when towing the horses uphill. :puke: BTW, welcome to oilburners. :Thumbs Up

    12V Cooling

They are all intercooled from about mid '91 on. In stock form, pulling 6500 lbs shouldn't be a problem on any grade/temp. When you start bombing, the more air in/out you can get, the better.

    Dyno numbers

It could be a number of issues. 1. Poor dyno run, wrong setup on the dyno, operater error, etc. 2. Your pump/pump timing may need to be adjusted for the 370's to perform better. 3. Be sure the governor arm is sliding up the plate profile all the way. Pull the plate out and look at the wear...

22 mpg with the foot out of it and stay under or at 65.

    Dyno numbers

I'd bet it's much more than that. With only an 11 plate slid 1/2 way forward, 16.5 deg. timing, 3k gsk, stock air, stock exh, stock injectors mine rolled at 370/900 and at 6000 ft. above sea level.

    Turbo help

The B1-EX3 has an HX-35 outlet, But that must hinder performance in reducing temps. The manifold will help temps a bunch too. I'm in the same dilema of going all out gets too $$. From the few that have posted on using Piers' towing twins, they are fairly driveable, but like ya said that opens...

    Turbo help

Kev, I've searched quite a bit for this elusive chart and never found anything other than everyone's opinion. We're close in power, but I don't expect to pull quite as heavy as you with reasonable temps. Look at HTT's lineup especially the HTTB2. I'd also look heavily at the B1, KSB1, etc. -...

What is the best towing single turbo??

Hello ATS, what upgrades to the engine are required? Can I keep my turbo mounted pacbrake installed? What is the status on your MST turbo, is it available yet? I saw it at your gathering last winter and it seems fairly simple yet effective.
