Yep, there are definitely differences, but unless you are very familiar with OEM you’ll probably not even realize it. I fought glow plug issues for a while until I went back to the first thing I did, which was installed these plugs. If they are on eBay or Amazon for under $65, the deal is...
Like this crimp on the plug, one round single crimp is on the fakes vs multiple crimps on the genuine plug. I also noticed the fake requires a 10mm socket vs 3/8” on the genuine.
When the plugs are sold under a Ford part number, in Ford packaging but do not come a Ford supplier, they are counterfeit. There are subtle ways to tell, but it is difficult.
I would check the resistance of your plugs when warm. If they are out of spec, the controller will not operate properly. As I stated in another post, I just dealt with a similar issue and my problem was fake ZD-9 glow plugs I installed. The fakes I had quickly had the resistance change when...
Winner winner chicken dinner! It’s a Marmon Harrington F-Superduty 4x4 conversion. It’s got a massive MC-80 front axle with T-case adapter, crossmember and ebrake relocation. Everything I need to build a 4x4 rollback. It was from an old Asplundh tree truck.
So this is probably worth a post of its own, but I found a rolling chassis at a friends house. I’m close to getting my hands on it. Major props to whomever can identify what it is...
I bought a 1989 F-Superduty rollback and have been going through every system on it. The truck was a total mess with nearly everything rigged or broken on it. I replaced the entire wiring harness from a 1991 donor F-250. Every thing works as it should now, but am wondering now if it is possible...
Yep, I learned the hard way that the $50/sets on eBay aren’t the same as the $75 sets at the auto parts stores... now I’m working on a refund. If you search on YouTube, you’ll find videos explaining how to spot fakes. They are very hard to tell apart from genuine OEM.
I’m dealing with counterfeit ZD9 plugs right now. One tell tale is the packaging is slightly different then genuine OEM. I notice some of your bags are different, that make me suspect. The fakes I have also are 10mm vs 3/8” hex. The fakes ohm at .9 cold but immediately go over 2.5, which puts...
New here, this is “Earl” he’s a 1986 F-350 ex Oklahoma cow poke. I bought him with an overheated 6.9 and found a good running 7.3 to drop in until I go through the 6.9. I’d like to go back original one day, but wanted to drive it in the meantime. My plans are to use it around my house and have fun.
