For future reference, if your truck is pushing out fuel from the housing it could be that your old filter came apart inside and sent metal into your IP. Thankfully mine stopped short of making it to the IP.
Originally when the sensor blew, the way it sits it was throwing fuel in intake. So the truck isn’t a turbo but started trying to run away it seemed. I never let it run long enough to see if it would. It would start back up after this happened. Then I took the sensor off replaced with a bolt...
At first fuel pressure blew vacuum sensor. Replaced with a bolt.
Installed new water separator.
Fuel comes out between filter and housing.
No start.
Any help would be appreciated.
New lift pump installed truck tried to idle a little better. Seafoam through the fuel filter no change. ATF through fuel filter. Let the truck sit over night. Yesterday metering valve was still stuck upon start up. Drove about 20 miles hard. No more problems after.
So I went out bought diesel clean, Seafoam, Howells and a lift pump. Gonna put it all back together I’ll let y’all know how it turns out. Lift pump had no suction on the in-line.
Between the lift pump and IP. If the bracket is gone then maybe you can find one at the junkyard. All you gotta do...
Yea the lift pump is bad I think. Truck stalls of deceleration. If allowed to come down slowly then truck stays at idle. I bought the truck last December. Hadn’t replaced the fuel filter yet so figured I’d try that first. Filled up with atf, drove it about 4 miles last night. Didn’t see...
Now I don’t have any exp with the diesel trucks of today. However I have plenty in a semi. And they outright suck as far as power compared to pre 07 pre DEF.
If we go pre EGR so 01 they get even better.
Is it not the same for pickups?
Just think my truck is a 94. We are almost 30 yrs past the time these were supposed to be top of the line trucks.
Outside of the riding comfort, having WiFi in your truck and all that nonsense.
These trucks are still top of the line for reliability and mechanically sound provided they were...
For future reference, their is two fuses (the big round one) plus the 15. The front round fuse is for the blinkers. The one in the back is for hazard(very difficult to put back in). If you upgrade to heavy duty you will have to loosen the bolts to get the new fuse in.
You can switch them out if...
Unfortunately, I know A-F needs to be removed to replace G. Then A-F will need to be new when I put it back together bc every part will break if I don’t buy the parts before I pull them. If I buy them then nothing will break so I’m waiting till I’ve saved up for all that. So, I can have a bunch...
Now if this is the only thing that needs to be replaced. Why go through the trouble of doing everything else. Looking at this oil cooler, it would appear I can just put it on. But I’m going to assume there isnt enough room to do that.
$217 on the price.
This is what I’m worried about.
I was going to replace the fenders when I first bought the truck. Then I found the location of the bolts and said it can wait. I assume that taking everything else off will make it easier to remove the fender as well. So when I get around to this it’ll be a...
I appreciate the advice, I need to replace the fender anyway. The guy before put big tires on and cut the fenders so they would fit. While im at it I can replace the other side as well. Which lead me to another question. I have a leak on the other side. Oil is all over the starter but its...
I know that now, I didn’t then. I don’t have that truck anymore it did me in. Then I went back to company driving and I couldn’t hack the schedule. 6/1 12/2 was to much of a burden on the family so I got out and haven’t been driving sense. So like I said, I got got by the wallet, shop and then...
I once thought that it was that simple. Then I messed with a Cummins. The injecter cups were bad. I didn’t know. Ruined the head. And the only sign was towards the end when I had to add a gallon of coolant every day. Before it was maybe a quart every week or so. Then in two days 2 gallons of...
My exhaust is cracked at the Y and all I smell is diesel. Smells really strong with the A/C on. Turn truck off smell is instantly gone. Well at least that one is. The burnt front axle that had no oil in it sense I bought it 5 months ago (probably longer) smell still lingers.
Yup that’s what I thought it was. Thanks for confirming my fears. With that being said if oil was in the coolant or vice versa. Then one or the other would have to be topped off from what I’m thinking. I haven’t had to add any fluid to this truck. Is it possible there mixing?
So I bought this truck in Dec so I’m a little new to the IDI’s. I’ve plumbed up most of the problems this truck has had except this one. See the pictures, looks like the oil filter leaking but it’s tight. There’s oil above it so I assume it’s the housing. How difficult of a job is that to...
