    Polymerisation lube oil

Oil sludge; My oil was changed every 7500Km, no liquid leaks, CVS works, Only reason I see might still be the piston rings blowby? due to worn engine. I never had to use the cold start advance lever before, then at a certain day I couldn't start my engine in a regular way anymore, and pulled...

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

I don't know about Volvo, but I recently heard that Freightliner stopped EVERYTHING that has to do with E-trucks, R&D, Production, selling etc. I do think that for use like in above situation it would be a good alternative, while on the long haul they are worthless as far as I read. For Ship's...

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

So, what would be the goal of all this CO2 lowering campaign worldwide? do they want to shove us into a new ICE age?

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

In that future, I guess that we all need to go out and buy "wellies", or high rubber boots (how do you call them in the USA?) on the other hand, If drinking water becomes rare, and more and more expensive, why could Hydrogen not being made from sea water? then you make a bucket at your exhaust...

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

Well, never been in california, but what I've seen from it (and actually the whole of USA and Canada) you have a fabulous nature and landscapes! And Extremists, in whatever fields are NEVER ok. Nah!, there is only one solution for it, for every person you dig a hole, big as a beercase, put the...

    Unknown electronics?

yes, nothing special, little amber/brownish discolorisation, but other than that, nothing wrong. my truck has until now only a little over 10300 original miles.

    Unknown electronics?

??? I don't know, until two years ago I still had the factory installed (and still painted in the original engine paint) fuel filter installed

    Unknown electronics?

I've been quite busy under the hood lately, and discovered this piece of electronics, Passenger side, front of the engine, about at the foot of the injector pump. just at the end of a string of cables. Does anyone recognise this? or at what it serves?

    Dieseltiming explained?

Ok, Thanks. I think now I need to go and buy a new timing light. Mine doesn't have the variable button.

    Dieseltiming explained?

@ Franklin 2, they're cheap over there! @Clb, to whom you're writing? I don't know why those 20*? is that the point at which our engine needs to be injected?

    Dieseltiming explained?

you mean with a button (and maybe a screen) to flash earlier or later?

    Dieseltiming explained?

I'm thinking of buying one of these piëzo diesel timing adaptors, where you have the clamp which goes on the no:1 injector tube, and then has a little solid state box with a wire loop where to get the sensor of a stroboscope timing light. and so you can flash at the crank vibration damper to see...

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

yep, about the wires, It was like this, but as you said, why do the both move the pointer???? you would think that one should light up the warning light, and the other move the pointer? I don't get that either.

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

I don't think that it's possible to install them in opposite ports, they have a different size if I'm correct?

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

I just checked this morning, I have both senders, the one installed in the drivers side head has a white wire connected to it, and the other, at the front in the engine block has a red wire connected to it. I tested both of them by putting the cables to Ground, I didn't see any lights come on. I...

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

I did pull the cable from the (in your images) Temp Light Sender, and held that to ground, assuming that was the sender for the dash coolant temp gauge, and by doing so the pointer of my temp gauge went all the way up to hot. (this is a method for seeing if the gauge is still working.) So, Is...

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

MF7Lakes, mmm, according to your images I took the idiot light cable off and kept that to ground??? Odd that that did move the pointer from my gauge???

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

I had a 100Km round trip to the inspection two weeks ago, and it was fairly good weather, 20*C, and the gauge did only move to the beginning of the scale. The radiator you couldn't touch, so warm. Now with the cooled down engine I did get the electric cable off from the temp sender, and had the...

    Polymerisation lube oil

It's not really "gummed" up, I know, last summer I really! had a lot of work with my 7.3, also because of the Bio component in our diesel these days, the fuel system of my truck was blocked due to this algea, diesel-pest, bacteria, whatever you like to call it. nasty!!!

New insight in IDI burning WMO - need high compression or turbo

I think what you see is the result of the synthetic oils, they are not leaving the same deposits as mineral oils. synthetic oils leave much more ash, and plastic or rock(gravel) like deposits due to the synthetic part of it. I've seen that before in a WMO fired garage heater. I hope you might...

Brake lights, continue to not work?

Hmmmm, something stupid has happened; this ride to the inspection station, was the first time since 5 or 6 years she was back on the road again, and I forgot more or less the way she behaves. On it's way to the station, there are some speed bumps in the road, and they were much steeper than I...

Anyone hotshot trucking in an IDI?

Ok, yes I see where that is going.... I don't know how they do that in the states, but here in europe they have on a lot of places weighing loops worked into the highway surfaces, all overwatched by cameras, and (here we mostly use vans instead of trucks) where they are used for commercial goals...
