I found one
Got lucky
Extremely lucky
Put her back together today, and went for a test run.
Outside ambient temp was ~80°
I took her up the mountain here, running empty, but very steep inclines.
Trans temp never exceeded 170°
I think she's right.....
Finally

Ok
Good news and bad
I received my sonnex bypass kit today, and pulled it apart
Low and behold, the bypass was full of trash, I cleaned it out and reassembled it.
Everything went real smooth.
Until.........
I have the horrible problem of getting sidetracked and over tightening bolts sometimes...
Ok
I might be getting annoying, but I got bored today
I went to the garage
Moved the trans temp sender to the correct port in the driver's side
Flushed the cooler again.
And took her for a ride.
It took a lot longer than normal for her to get above 100°
Then I hit the back roads
The house she...
Ok, I took it for another ride to get it warm. Trans temp gauge said 210°.
So I pulled her Infront of the garage and checked her with the laser.
I checked the lines at the cooler, the inlet was 124°, the outlet was 93°.
Then I checked the lines where they go in the trans, inlet was 143°, outlet...
Any one here familiar with John Wood?
I hear that he is a top name in transmission rebuilds.
I also hear that he deletes the bypass on all his rebuilds unless specified.
Why is this?

Old bull...
I guess I wasn't very clear on what I said, I didn't think there was a bolt on place of the banjo bolt
I was wondering if you could bypass the bypass cooler by placing a bolt in place of the banjo bolt
Or do you even think bypassing the bypass is a good idea?
And if you do, I guess I...
Ok
After doing a little more driving with no load today, I checked the trans temp with the laser again.
210°
That's a little hotter than I like.
I'm thinking of rebuilding the bypass or just deleting it all together.
I've been reading that the bypass is prone to failure, and will cause the...
Another thing.....
It seems like it gets hotter sitting at idle in park, versus driving.
I know that's not right
If anything it should cool off idling in park, instead of getting hotter

I guess I'll end up buying a new sender and place it in that plug, versus leaving it in the pan.
I'll most likely have to replace the gauge as well.
I've never had any problems with Auto Meter guages, but I guess there's good and bad in all of them.

Also
After I shut it down for fear of overheating, it only took about twenty minutes to cool down to about 100°
Which I thought was pretty quick

I dunno if I mentioned or not, but there was an approximate 30° less difference when I checked the outside of the pan, the sensor, and the upper trans housing which was an approximate 20°-30° difference less, when I checked it with a laser thermometer

I replaced the sensor, and I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you by the test port.
My sensor was placed in the trans oil pan, in the sump. I dunno if that makes a difference in the oil temp or not.
I know the gauge will change is reading slightly if I tap on it, I was curious of its...
Ok
I ran her some more tonight
She got a little hotter than what I like, 210°.
So I stopped and got out then crawled under her and checked the pin where the sensor goes in the pan 162°, and the case about half way up was 183°.
So I dunno, maybe a bad gauge?
It is an Auto Meter Pro Comp, so it's...
I put it all back together, and took her for a test drive
She runs great, shifts smooth, with no slipping
Only issue is, I think she runs a little on the hot side
Temp gauge says 180° - 190°
I shut her down for fear of overheating.
I'm thinking I'm going to have to replace the coolers all...
I put it all back together tonight. Now I'm just waiting on fluid and a new filter kit. I pulled the pan tonight after getting everything hooked back up, and it didn't look bad. There were no big chunks and metal, just a lot of the fine dust on the magnet.
While i was getting everything ready...
Ok
Update
I got bored, and a little spare time the other night, so I went to the garage.
If you subtract the time it took to find tools and drink beer, it only took me about 2½ hours to get the TC out. Not to bad.
When I got it out, I just barely tilted it to the side, and sure enough... That...
