    Swapping a 7.3 IDI to a 6BT 12 Valve Cummins

I forgot about the GV OD, looks like it might push it to around 86 MPH with 0% slippage - but, again, that's against the governor. Eli

    Swapping a 7.3 IDI to a 6BT 12 Valve Cummins

Your Cummins Dodges have lock-up torque converters - and, probably, overdrive - the C6 does not. Assuming LT235/85R16 tires and 0% slippage, maximum speed is around 66 MPH. But, because of the torque converter slippage, realistically that Cummins is against the governor at 60-65 MPH; maybe less...

Poll: Sleeved and Non-Sleeved IDI Engines

I think you don't have 'sleeved' data because sleeves aren't obvious, and are as reliable as cast cylinder walls when properly installed. Eli

    Swapping a 7.3 IDI to a 6BT 12 Valve Cummins

The 6BT (Cummins 5.9) is no more powerful than a healthy IDI. Without the GV OD, that C6 would limit you to less than 60 MPH at the Cumapart's maximum 2500 RPM - the IDI revs 3300-3400 stock and 3800 with an aftermarket IP - and even with the GV OD that 6BT won't be happy at highway speeds. Cost...

    Tow 12,600 with a 6.9 N/A ?

Never ever ever do this - the secondary catch is only to keep the hood from opening at speed long enough for you to shut it correctly! Eli

    7.3 idi exhaust

Is it an F-truck or an Econoline? I think the IDI-powered bus I'm responsible for is going to get dualed out, but with glasspacks or something - after I get everything else on it working! Eli

Reliable & Trustworthy IDI/E4OD Mechanic In SW Houston

That's great to know, I appreciate it! The bus, however is having electrical/sensor issues, not mechanical - I'm hoping to find somebody local that knows how to fix these things. Eli

Reliable & Trustworthy IDI/E4OD Mechanic In SW Houston

The Bus - a '91 E-350 Collins Super Bantam - needs some repair and maintenance that I don't have time to do, and I don't know how to do much of anything with an E4OD that's malfunctioning. Anybody have somebody they like? Eli

Anybody have anybody they know and trust in SW Houston? I bought a Y2K Excursion with less than 200K on the clock, but it needs repair and maintenance I just don't have time to do. Eli

    Auto diesel vs diesel #2?

When I worked at a BioDiesel plant several years ago, we 'inherited' several jars of the red dye. The stuff was ridiculously concentrated, something like 1 quart per 10,000 gallons of fuel! I was warned to not get it on anything, as it's nearly impossible to remove. I was also warned to not...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I get to install a brand-new driveshaft in the bus, to replace the one the wrecker driver pretzeled when he unloaded said bus. Now it just needs tires, and the brakes bled and adjusted! Eli

    7.3 Cold Starting

I did this to the bus yesterday, with frost on the ground - fired right up! Eli

So what did you do with your truck today?

I wired up air horns on the bus. I can't even find where the original horns went, and the factory button doesn't do anything. Now it's LOUD! Eli

    7.3 Cold Starting

My 'cold start' method: 1. Turn key to 'ON' position. 2. When 'WAIT TO START' light goes out, turn key to 'OFF' position. 3. Wait 30 seconds. 4. Turn key to 'ON' position. 5. When 'WAIT TO START' light goes out, push the throttle pedal to the floor, let of slightly, and turn key to 'START' 6...

    Banks Kit Question (1st Generation)

The van setup is completely different - and rare as hell! Sell it to somebody with a van! Nothing will fit! Van manifolds are different, so the up pipes won't fit, and that's just the start of your difficulties. Info on the rare Banks kit here...

    88 f350 7.3 c6 to t19 swap

Just rebuild the C6. It's a LOT more work to switch to the T-19, and not worth it. To a ZF-5, maybe, but the C6 is easier to rebuild than finding all the parts you're going to need. Eli

    1991 E350 No Crank Issue

I bought my 1991 E350 (Collins Super Bantam MiniBus) inoperable and less batteries, with the prior owner telling me the starter was dragging. I bought batteries, and installed them, everything seems to turn on and off except it wouldn't crank. I assumed the starter was dead, replaced it, and it...

    I Bought A '91 E-350 Collins MiniBus

I'm going to pull it once I get the %$##$@$#& thing running, and take it to be re-tubed. Hopefully the transmission and rear end are OK! Does yours have any start interlock aside from the standard Ford stuff? I can't get mine to crank, no idea why! Eli

    I Bought A '91 E-350 Collins MiniBus

I picked up a pair of Group 65 batteries last night, today is going to be the day it hopefully starts! The interior was FILTHY, I've spent hours scrubbing it out with more left to do. Tires will come after it moves under it's own power. Eli

    I Bought A '91 E-350 Collins MiniBus

Looks like I get to measure battery boxes and get batteries tomorrow! The van is a 'singley' not a 'dually' so it looks like LT265/75R16 tires are in order. A/C is this magical thing that makes life in Houston tolerable! Yeah, I gave him $100 on a $300 to bill, NOT happy that I have to replace...
