interesting connection...
when I bought my 92 van the twelve pin plug was melted out where the two 10 awg wires for the glowplug relay go into and out of the plug....
not very pretty.
If anyone finds a good source for the 12 pin plugs that would be awsome.
cool idea!!!
With the porosity of the welds I'd coat the hell out of the inside and outside of that thing(with a Por15 or 2 part epoxy type material)...other wise you are gonna have one hell of a headache in the not too distant future.
Other than that...like I said at first...Cool Idea!!!
I've got a 92 E350 HighTop ambulance... the Hypermax turbo charger kit I have uses the pulse turbo...there are two up pipes, one from each manifold that go into a cast iron piece that bolts to the rear of the passenger side head that also serves as the turbine housing mount.
Alright so after butchering the hell out of my Hypermax hat...I'd be willing to throw in for one of these. Unfortunately...Since I have a VAN something tells me the "Gnome hat" isn.t going to work...
I'll have to look...but I had thought I had read Banks was discontinuing their IDI products.
If I'm wrong I'll have to eat crow on that one.
But then again who would have thought ATS was ever going to stop production either.
I've seem the TO4B69's(Hypermax's Turbo) offered with 1.00 AR's on their hot side. I'm kinda currious if that would be a happy medium for the non-wastegated turbo systems.
The biggest problem that most non-turbo'd IDI owners are going to run into is that Hypermax is going to be the only...
ok so on the box that my Hypermax turbo came in it said it was a TO4B69.
The Turbine side has an A/R of 1.15 and I believe the compressor's A/R is 0.70.
Does this add to the database of knowledge at all or at the very least confirm what someone else has?
And since it is going on my...
nope my 98 E350 is 2wd. She has an ARB airlocker that gets me about anywhere I need to go.
Up until the engine let go I had plans to build it out as a 6x4... tandem rear drive axles with the tough-as-nails I-beam suspension in the front.
I even went so far as to fabricate a gear box out...
So for those that have seen/read my first thread on Oilburners I'm trying to resurrect my 98 5.4L E350 EB in the form of a 92 7.3L IDI E350 EB Ambulance...
without adding too much confusion I'm curious to know if anyone can tell me what, if any, problems I may run into with the tire...
the old dash lights?
the radio looks a bit tricky since the cut out has rounded corners.
The exterior lights are the same but the tail lights on the 92 have an amber section on the housing...but I could change those out with the 98's
alright my neighbor brought something to my attention. That I should go ahead and rip the cabinets out of the inside of the ambulance and transfer the suspension, front and rear bumpers, and as much of the interior of of my 98 into/onto the 92.
I'd still like to install a turbo on the IDI to...
alrighty....so I need to upgrade the E4OD's internals and just use the Body from the newer van?
If that is the case I'll have to switch rear axles and cut the stock suspension mounts off the 92's frame and use all the suspension components from the 98.
let me know if any of this sounds...
I believe you about them making it to much higher miles than what my van was at...
I was under the impression that my 98 van still had a E4OD in it since it was a "Early" 98 model. But I could be wrong...
I've done searches on their vins and off the door tags...and they both come up...
the 5.4 had a good run...it had about 135K on it. Mostly Arizona outback conditions(hot). I ran it with 3.55 and 33 inch tires for a while then jumped to 4.10's with the 33's, after that I went to 37's with the 4.10 gears. After a couple of years I jumped to 4.88's and that is what is in it...
