I had a 1994 Turbo IDI, traded it away, had similar miles as yours and never had an issue with oil consumption. Mine did have a bad compressor wheel on the turbo though so maybe that was why. Mine had a tendency to run hot when working but a new set of injectors solved that issue. Unfortunately...
Sorry Duke57 for the massive wait but it is the injection pump. Actually that's not available anymore. I've traded it and another for a Sandrail/Dune Buggy. Was thinking about putting it in a F-600 but then this deal came along and I'm a sucker for projects.... that or insane (the voices in my...
No need to apologize about ignorance. We are all ignorant on somethings. Those who need to apologize are the people who are ignorant and pretend not to be.
Thanks a bunch Farmer Rock. Does it automatically "watch" every thread that you reply to? Curious because I didn't hit watch thread but I noticed I had the option to un-watch. Once again thanks for the help
I don't know. Like I've said previously I'm not convinced that you were experiencing valve float. I'm not saying that you weren't seeing your valves sticking open but that doesn't necessarily have to be caused by lifter being over pumped. It could have been caused by the valves sticking in their...
What? You are directly contradicting what you quoted. At this point it feels as if you have decided that you are absolutely right and nothing will change your mind. Maybe you are and maybe you are not, I do not know. If it were my vehicle I would not be satisfied with that explanation but it...
I'm reading it and so far everything it says agrees with what I have been saying. The only way something like this could even possibly occur is if the valve springs are very very weak. Now I'm not trying to pretend to be an expert in valve train mechanics nor in fluid dynamics I'm just have...
How exactly is that supposed to work? Valve float as I explained earlier is when the valves fail to re-seat. Solid lifters don't cause valve float so how could a hydraulic lifter which can not grow cause valve float? Perhaps we are using the term valve float to mean two different things or...
Valve float happens when the springs aren't able to return the valve to the seat fast enough at high RPM. That should not be an issue with starting. You might want to check and make sure that all your valves are properly seating though because that could cause a lack of compression.
I suppose the 6.9IDI is sort of rare. I've got a pair of the 7.3 IDI's one turbo and one non turbo. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I want to do with them. I had a 1986 F250 with the 6.9l in it. I bought it for $800 and sold it for $1600 and have regretted selling it almost immediately.
So your question is what will your power output be with the new turbo? I think that depends upon your pump and turbo combo. An oversized turbo will be doggy and will only build boost under hard acceleration an undersized turbo will build boost quickly but will choke out. Outside of that...
There's a truck around here like that. If I remember correctly it's an S-10 or equivalent and has a 4 cylinder diesel in it out of a tractor. I can't remember the engine size or horsepower but it has painted on it that it gets like 54 mpg. It's been several years since I've seen it but that's...
Drop one of those engines out of the new Fendt Ideal 10's in an F350, 790hp. Of course you would probably need to stretch the hood and move the cab back so you had about a 4' bed :)
So very true. I liked the second Batman with Ledger's Joker. Rented Snyder's Superman and thought it was awful. Wonder Woman was good. Sorry for bringing such a charged topic into your thread Wes. That's a sweet looking engine and truck, Wes. It's pretty amazing how much fuel you are getting out...
What does the turbo system look like for this pump? Compounds, Twins, big single, supercharger+turbo, compounds+supercharger+nitrous+Gamma radiation+tesseract+arc reactor? Sorry finally watched Endgame last night :)
That's very true. My parents own 120 acres surrounded by National forest in Northern Wisconsin. Tourist is the main business up there and some of those tourist decided to buy summer homes and then get on the county board. One of them wanted to put in a zoning law that stated that you couldn't...
Speaking of politicians nothing will change until there is campaign finance reform that removes ALL outside and personnel money from the campaign. Campaigns should be funded via a corporate tax and each candidate should be give an equal amount of money and air time. We need to abolish the...
I think that idiocy started here in the Carolina's. Why on God's green earth you would want the front of your vehicle jacked up and the back lowered I can't understand but I've heard it called a Carolina Lift of something like that which I why I guessed it started here. Personally I'm not a fan...
