Just wondering if anyone has used the large round filter Afe offers for N/A engines. Is it just an overpriced option or is it better than the cheapo paper filters?

I have one for my 1stgen. Rather have one I can clean and re-use for $80-100 than $40 throwaway paper filters.

I went ahead and bought the AFE filter and I can say it definitely made a difference. Of course a new filter always seems to be better than the old one but I did notice that throttle response is improved and the engine sounds a bit different. Plus the AFE filter looked to be a good 1/4 inch taller than the Microguard filters from O'Reilly's. AFE filter does seem to flow more air--hopefully it still filters as well. I wish I had switched sooner. Worth the $100/shipped.

I just ordered direct from AFE thru their website. Price was about the same as I could find on resellers' websites. Summit racing would have been cheaper but it was a special order with a length wait time indicated. Direct from AFE took 2 days to arrive. They also offer a dry filter media but I ordered the oiled version.
