Are you talking about the screen in the oil reservoir? If so, that screen is way important because it is stopping anything from getting to the HPOP that shouldn't. I'm not aware of any screen on the oil cooler itself.

Check out the 6.2 and 6.5 forums over at The Diesel Place. You will surely get an answer to your question there because a lot of those folks have experience with the 6.2. I didn't know the 6.5 had a N/A model. :confused:
What TPC is referring to is the PMD (Pump Mounted Driver) or FSD (Fuesl Solenoid Driver); they're both the same thing. That sucker is what gave the 6.5TD the reputation it has...none so good if you talk to a Cummins or PS guy. Cooling system problems were addressed in the '97 model year so...
