    7.3L Fuel filter head question

If this was bad would it cause air to back up in the filter and not go through the system???

OK, this is making me mad...Electic fuel pump problems...

One minute it will suck fuel from the tank then the next it wont, it won't even push fuel to the filter housing then you got to take the line loose at the filter and let all the air bleed out then its fine for a while, I by passed the TSV and I am pulling off the rear tank exclusively, it has a...

OK, this is making me mad...Electic fuel pump problems...

The one I had was almost identical to the Holley Red and it wouldn't suck from the tank...The rear is missing the shower head but the pickup we built is less than an inch from the bottom of the tank... I keep having cavitation issues with those style pumps... I can't risk buying a Holley...

OK, this is making me mad...Electic fuel pump problems...

I need a pump that will mount on the frame rail of this truck, not in the engine bay, or up on the firewall, or anywhere else...It has to mount on the inside of the frame rail... The Summit pump I bought will not suck out of the tank correctly, it cavitates...No one carries the right Carter...

    Dual tank switcher valve options...

He told me yesterday just to replace the switcher valve with a new one, that makes my life so much easier... I bypassed the switch valve on the suction side friday and ran it straight to the pump and had the switch on the rear tank and it sucked the rear tank dry and filled the front...

    Dual tank switcher valve options...

Me and dad got thinkin about the second one though...The rear tank will try and fill the front tank full to the level it is, it would actually "pressurize" the lower tank from the weight of the fuel above it and cause it to push right on out the vent tube, atleast in theory it would...

    Dual tank switcher valve options...

I have the 19 and 16 gallon tanks, what are my options for getting rid of the switcher valve and building a new setup... My ideas... 1st idea...Make a "T" and pull off both tanks, then do the same on the return lines but I don't think it would return correctly... 2nd idea...Drill...

    Fuel system revamp...

I found out the switcher valve was part of the problem, I ran a hose around the switcher from the rear tank to the pump, the return line I left on the switcher...I ran the truck a while on the rear tank and had no fuel coming back the return line to the rear tank, the SOB filled the front tank...

    Fuel system revamp...

I am getting air in the system now, apparently they also make a giant loop between the firewall and the back of the engine I didn't see, and I don't know why they done it either, so I got to cut about 2 feet or so of useless steel and rubber line out and replace it with a 4 inch piece of rubber...

Fixing splayed out bed sides and adding a newer tailgate...

Can I put the 84 style loop tailgate latches on a 89 tailgate? The latches on the tailgate now are made for a striker (like the truck's doors are) and I want to know if I can just but new older style loop latches and put them on the newer tailgate????

    Fuel system revamp...

The longest piece of rubber line in the system is about 8 inches and those go from the sending unit to the steel lines, personally if it was mine I would of got rid of the switcher valve all together and just used a T to pull from both tanks or drilled a hole in the bottom of the rear tank and...

    Fuel system revamp...

Went down the street to my local Fleet Pride and picked up several feet of 3/8 and 5/16 fuel line, I even bought some 1/4 just in case I needed it...1/4 was 60 cents a foot, 5/16 was 70 cents a foot, and 3/8 was 79 cents a foot...I left the two curved plastic fuel lines on the front tank and...

    Fuel system revamp...

Fuel pump showed up this evening...I got all my new lines installed from the tank's to the switcher valve yesterday...First thing tomorrow I am going to put the new sending unit seal and lock ring on both tanks then I got to put the front tank back up in the truck then throw the pump in tomorrow...

    Plastic fuel lines???

I know what ferrule fittings are lol, the only thing left of these is the lines themselves, nothing else, I figure if the rest of the system is good enough to use rubber lines as couplers then it shouldnt hurt these... They looked good but wasn't sure what people's consensus was on them...

    Plastic fuel lines???

Should these be replaced? The front tank on this 84 I am working on has plastic fuel lines running from the switcher valve to the sending unit with short pieces of rubber line attaching the plastic lines to the switcher and sending unit...
