Ester oil is used in conversions where there may be some old r12 oil still in the system. If your system is clean, you can use PAG. I have used ester in conversions, that comes in the conversion kits, with no problems. It's your choice.- franklin2

Since you are going to flush the system, then you can use Ester oil or PAG. I would look at your compressor literature. See what kind of oil comes with it or what they recommend. If it has some PAG in it, you might want to go that route. You have options since you are flushing the system.- franklin2

You need a vacuum pump and a set of gauges. The cheapest place for these is Harbor Freight. Once you check around to get someone to evacuate and fill the system, you will realize buying these few things at harbor Freight is cheap. Burning up fuel shut off solenoids.
I have had DC coils burn up just like A/C coils. Without the metal plunger all the way up inside, they overheat, the windings melt together, and this creates a short circuit to ground which blows the fuse.- franklin2

If he has a spare good solenoid sitting on the bench, if he puts the metal plunger inside the coil and hooks it to 12v sitting on the bench, weeks later it will still be sitting there energized. Oil Pressure Gauge reading way low
You are on the right track, do not rely on the factory gauges. That goes for the temp gauge also.- franklin2

C6 transmissions puking fluid out is not a common problem with those. Something is wrong somewhere. While they are fuel hogs, they are good transmissions.- franklin2

Not sure why that guy in the article had vacuum problems with his tank. I thought all modern fuel caps let air in, but not out. When you get the trans warmed up, put it in park with it idling and pull the dipstick. Wipe it off and then put it in again and when it's idling, what does the fluid level look like?
