I was hoping you had the Banks turbo when I clicked on this thread, that is what I have. I have been interested in getting rid of the big giant banks square turbo air intake, and I think I read somewhere that an ATS hat would replace that big square intake. Anyone comment on that?
I understand your points, maybe I will follow in your footsteps one of these days. I have a centurion, and I know exactly what I want to do to it, just don't know enough yet. I will your project with interest.
I have no fab skills, but to my untrained eye, it seems harder to build from scratch, than using a frame that already exists. One of these days I may be good enough to 1/4 of that... :)
No, automatic. E40d. Not sure if it is relevant or not, but for a when this first started happening, a short time later there was a additional sound, coming from the bottom of the engine, bell housing area (where you could hear it easiest) that sounded like a loose piece of sheet metal or...
One more thing, there is a slight vibration in the frame as it passes the point where it stops and starts, when it reaches that point if you rev the engine past that point and then let it fall back to idle. I havent been driving it much, dont want to make a problem worse when it might be an...
It is a bit hard to describe, but will try. At idle or just above, there is what sounds like cross between something loose and a vibration. At higher rpm it seems to go away, or maybe it is just not apparent because of engine noise or movement. I live near whittier, ca.
Did you ever find anyone to time it for you? I am in socal also, could use some advice on my truck, someone who knows enough to time it well, probably knows enough to help me figure out what is wrong with mine... :-) I am not well versed in diesel repair, but I am learning...
All the bolts on the cowl are tight across the width of the car, just that one corner that is making that noise... is there a spacer or shim that is supposed to be in the corner that it butts up against when tightened in? the passenger side is fine...
It does not seem to be touching anywhere. Literally, it seems to be that piece I am tapping in my video and something below it as well. I don't see what holds in that louvered piece at all to tighten it, maybe under the windshield, going to poke around more tomorrow. too late tonight, too...
Seems cross frame support at the firewall is an issue on obs trucks around my year, think this could be related to that? If not, what is down there that could be loose?
Hello all, just wanted to post an update on this which was the original thread on this. So been plugging away at fixing various things. So the other day I was looking at the windshield chrome trim, have been having a bit of water come in car when it rains and wanted to try and find out from...
So found a mechanic locally, went through a fixed a few things that have been missed along the way, truck is running better now and feel better about driving it. He did say he was not able to get an air filter from any local parts supplier, thinks it is only ordered from Banks, something like...
