If you can source the pressure plate for the 6.9 flywheel you should be good, it should be around 5/8 inch deeper to accommadate the thinner flywheel. Look for cheeper jeepers photo album for referance.
the distance from the fork to the pressure plate was longer to make up for the thinner fly wheel if I remember correctly. They machined one shorter and welded a small chunk in the fork slot to prevent spinning.
I would call Ft. Wayne clutch and talk to them they have options besides what is advertised. They made me a specia throwout bearing for using the stock 6.9 flywheel with my zf trans in my 88

If it makes you feel any better I had to leave my truck 175 miles from home over night tonight lost gasket between acc. drive and air compressor. So tomorrow I get to go remove compressor install gasket, and reinstall compressor and fuel pump,then deliver load and return home. All to try again...
