    Easy Fuel Additive system

This isn't want you asked for, but the way I dose my 86 250 and 2005 Jetta... I pick up those 2 ounce bottles (brown for winter, white for summer). I buy a big jug of additive, then use a small funnel to fill up the bottles. I keep a few in each vehicle so that I can easily tip the small bottle...

    86 IDI w/ C6 - Trans Dipstick w/ Tube help... please...

The company is giving me a hard time, so I need to look at other options. I found two dipstick/tube combos, both with locking dipsticks. However, the are for C6 trans with small blocks and big blocks. The one of the left is big block, the one on the right is small block.

    86 IDI w/ C6 - Trans Dipstick w/ Tube help... please...

So I figured out that the mounting tab is welded on the wrong side... which is why the mounting made no sense to me. I called the company to get a replacement... but holidays and all. I am still trying to find a dipstick for it.

    86 IDI w/ C6 - Trans Dipstick w/ Tube help... please...

The turbo and associated parts came off a 7.3 auto. The turbo isn't the problem, the dipstick tube is. I have a flexible one, that that is a POS. Takes forever to fill the transmission and leaks because it's not the right dipstick. I wanted to get some advice on a decent one to buy, before I...

    86 IDI w/ C6 - Trans Dipstick w/ Tube help... please...

My truck has sat for about a 2 years; life happened and well... you know the tune. Recently, I was "encouraged" to start work on the truck again. I have sorted out most of the wiring. It will now startup and run. The C6 has been rebuilt, and have an upgraded pan and seal (don't understand why...

    6.9 & 7.3 IDI Commandment Lists - IDI Do’s and Don’ts

I'm dying reading this. I'm a bit south of Tucson. Summer time, going back and forth, it gets brutal if you have no A/C. First time I drove my old CJ7 (hard top and hard doors, at the time) from Cali to Tucson. I swear PHX was hotter than going through the dunes (summer time mind you). For some...

Glow plug too close to turbo?

I'm using the harness and did the same thing. It is just a hair too short! Once you pop the outer housing off, it fits right as rain. Also, the wire will not melt being that close to the turbo. If you are a little worried, a bit of insulation will do the trick as others have stated.

    GP wiring harness

For what it's worth... I would. I did this upgrade a year ago or so. Best thing I could have done. I also have a bypass in case the controller dies so I can direct inject so to speak.

Looking into getting Volkswagen Touareg TDI

I personally don't care much about the smog scandal. *shrug* I have driven Touaregs, but never owned one. I love'em. I have a buddy who tells me how much he likes his on a daily basis... it's very annoying. I'm also a fan of the TDI, just picked up a 2005 Jetta Wagon GLS TDI. I love it... it's...

    adding gauges.....

I wanted to make a suggestion first... I have seen a lot of people piggy back the electronic portion of their gauges using vampire taps, fuse risers and other not-so-great methods. I recommend setting up your gauges off of a second fuse block, so that if you have issues with the electronics, you...

ZF-S5-42 Germany or USA build preference

Although anecdotal, I have always heard that Germany is the place to get transmissions, the quality is almost always substantially better. As to the ZF5 specifically, I could not say. I would er on the side of caution and pick up both. If you were stateside, I'd tell you to ship one of them to...

The wife has murder in her eyes

So long as it's solid (and cheap!) I've been looking for a Jetta TDI (manual). It's either that or I drive my 86 F250 around w/ a C6... It make me cry to go get fuel.

    Zf 5 manual transmission.

If it's the older ZF5 for a diesel (should be here. lol), I'm interested!

    Bushing replacement difficulty?

I did it... and I'm an idiot. Personally, having just gone through that mess a few months ago, if you are going to go through the trouble of taking things apart to replace those bushings, I would recommend redoing the front end while you are at it. I spent about 800 or so for all the Moog...

Converting to Electronic glow plug control

@david85 I just did the upgrade in my 86. If you can give me a day or two, I can add a video to youtube describing exactly what I did, pointing everything out. There are a few parts that are tricky little *******, as far as wiring.
