There is a guy selling a powerstroke zf-5 from a 95 powerstroke, and I would like to know if it will bolt up to my 94 factory turbo truck. Any insight? What should I be looking for? Thanks.

Yes it will.

You will need other things if converting your E4OD to ZF5, but yeah, it will bolt up.

Yes it will

You will need a clutch as the PS clutch is different. along with a IDI flywheel to match the clutch also pedal assembly and mc and slave etc. for a standard then a cross member maybe and driveshafts maybe...depends on length of trans vs length of trans.

Some simple swap that will be, for sure.

Just check out a ZF swap thread in the forum...search is yer friend and most info should be there

Yes, my brother in law performed the opposite swap. we parted a 94 IDI turbo that was blown and put that ZF in his 95 stroke. he kept his clutch set up though, that like mentioned is differant between the two engines. the older ZF's have a slightly lower HP rating if i remember correctly but not a really a big deal in the real world.

Honestly on craigslist both in Colorado and Arizona I havent been seeing ZFs go for much at all in good verifyable working condition. Unknown condition? 300 tops!!!

numbers that he gave me seem right for my application according to what I am finding in the tech section. Can anyone verify they are correct for my 94 factory turbo truck?

Ford Part number

Build date 11/09/90

Serial 8252863

ZF parts number 1307050058

Total Ratio 4.14-0.77

I picked this up yesterday. It was out of a tow truck. It looks like a used transmissionLOL Is there a thread documenting the swap, as to what parts you will need for sure? The two that I have read in the tech articles do not spell out exactly what is needed. Is there a way to know if you will need drive shafts or a crossmember before you take the auto out? I would like to have as much in my postion at the time I swap it so the truck will not be down forever. Also, it also has a PTO on the side. How much are these worth? I don't have any use for it.

Never swapped an E4OD for a ZF5, but I have swapped a C6 for a ZF5 and I was able to use the crossmember and driveshafts from the C6. You will need a flywheel, clutch disk, TOB, and pressure plate for an IDI. You will need a manual transmission clutch pedal assembly. You will need a master cylinder, line, and slave cylinder. Make sure the ZF5 has the fork and bood with it. If it doesn't, you'll need them. You can modify your trans tunnel pan or you can get one from a manual transmission truck. You'll need a shift lever and boot if they didn't come with your ZF5. I'd get a firewall reinforcement plate from Terrapin Manufacturing and install it before putting the pedal assembly and clutch hydraulics in. You can pull the auto crap out of the steering column but you don't have to. I did as I can't stand for that stuff to be there and have no function.

Several folks have swapped E4OD's for ZF5's, so they will be along here in a while to fill in the gaps.

Hmm...got pics of PTO? I'd be kind of interested depending on price and what it is.

PM me with details or my user name at gmail gets you my email to send pics to.

E04D is about 6" longer than the ZF5 so you need drive shafts and a new cross member iv been looking for a a cross member in the market place but still have no good luck finding one. So sorry to high jack your thread but I any one has one pm me. And if you need to reuse any 4x4 linkage you need a shorter rod from the shifter to transfer case, and the plate that bolts the shifter to the trans is different. In the swap most parts will be stamped E40D so they need to be swaped for the ones that are stamped zfm
