That's what I figured. But I'm also curious could it maybe be because I am tapped into the wire passed the solenoid? I am not near the plug I am tapped in on the drivers frame rail part of harness after what I am assuming is the solenoid.

It wouldn't make a difference. If you tap that wire it should work.

And where can I get the solenoid? I really have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to this trans so maybe I should go to a trans shop and get them to look at it.

The solenoid is in a pack. The only way to fix it is replace the pack.

I would send it to the shop. Explain what is going on. They should be able to set you up.

I replaced a solenoid pack once...was intimidated by the job but it was easy as pie. The worst part is dropping the pan and making a mess everywhere. the pack simply unbolted, slid down and out and installation was the reverse order. No sweat!

I have a few questions about the Lock-up Mod:

-If you have it manually locked and have to make a sudden stop for whatever reason and forget to unlock the TC; will it kill the engine? or will it still unlock when the vehicle speed gets low enough?

-And as Im accelerating, if I decide to lock after it shifts into second, can I just leave it locked and let it shift through to 3rd and 4th?

-And as I slow down and it shifts from 4th to 3rd and so on; can I still leave it locked and just unlock it as I slow right down?

-And manually cancelling overdrive under heavy load, like on a steep hill; can I leave it locked as I cancel OD?

Im just looking for the best way I can "baby" my trans.

I was under the impression that the solenoid pack was the little box coming off of the trans on the outside of it. About 1.5 feet off of the plug. Am I wrong ? :S

No, its internal. whrn you drop the pan its the first thing you see after the filter. Its what the main wiring plug plugs into

If you leave the lockup under 40 MPH your going to ruin your tranny, and that ain't babying it.

It is on the pass side of trans. Comes off of plug behind heat shield. But must have hit exhaust cause casing is partially melted. I will see what kind of info I can get off to see if that may help. I'm doing a 200 km trip with 1400 lb of firewood in bed and a 4k trailer This weekend. so we will see how she does with no lockup :(

If you can remove the box. Good chance that is your issue.

Well as stupid as this sounds and I
Should have fixed. When I pulled it apart a resister fell out. So I taped it back into place so I may sawlder it back in to see. But it's weird because after about 5-10 mins of hwy driving the tc locked up but if I hit brakes it would unlock and take another 5-10 minutes before it locked again. Sucked being at 2500 rpm on the highway.
