My 89 7.3 turbo c6 isn't in horrible shape, but the constant slight slipping under acceleration when towing and the massive slipping in 2nd when I get on it (even empty) have forced me to go manual... Ok, probably not forced, but I wanted to before I got this truck. Haha
So I'm doing it... Eventually.
I picked up a 89 gasser manual f-superduty for $500 and will be swapping it over once I'm sure I got everything I need.
I have a solid flywheel (t19) off a 6.9
Can I use the clutch and pressure plate off the 460? They are new... Main reason I ask.
If not, what do y'all recommend for a tow rig?
Yes, I know I have to drill out the bellhousing to bolt it up.
Yes, my t-case (I'm 4x4) will bolt to the back of the zf5 when I remove the parking brake from the trans (anyone need one?)
Yes, I will thread lock the flywheel bolts after I remove the flex plate spacer.
I will try to document the swap here, or make a detailed swap write up (I haven't been able to find a one-stop-shop on this)
