if you have a cat or DPF i dont think that would be a good idea. more of an emissions systems no-no like burning leaded gas in a modern gas engine. i could be wrong i have no direct experiance but i hate to see you burn up an expensive component trying to save money.
That 6.7 has piezo style injectors which are expensive and sensitive to fuel quality. You damage them, big $$$$$$$. Unfortunately, these new emission style diesels do not have the same fuel flexibility as the earlier diesels. I could be wrong, maybe somebody on here has run a 5.9 Common Rail on WMO or other fuel types without issue, but I know I wouldn't want to see you foot an expensive repair bill just to find out.
not at a very high percentage, but i have successfully ran as much as 5 gallons of it mixed in with 30 gallons of diesel #2. No ill effects to report other than exhaust obviously smells different, but maybe not as bad as you might be imagining. Engine seems quieter and smoother sounding when it has WMO in the tank, but i have no way of "proving" this.
So I am in the market for a newer dodge. Debating on the 05-07 5.9 or the 08/09 6.7L.
My uses or intentions for the truck are commuting and towing mix. I would like to run 50/50 WMO/Diesel like I do on my powersmoke. I also intend using a superchips programmer.
Stay away from the 6.7 if your running wmo all the emissions stuff added on will not take kindly to the wmo. As far as the 05-07 cummins most people will tell you not to do any more than 50%wmo and make sure it is filtered very well, through a 2 micron filter and centrifuged.
It is unlawful to run anything other than ulsd in anything made 2007 and later and 2011 and later in farm equipment in the USA. That is federal mandate.
I set out to buy something to run wmo and ignorantly bought a 6.7. After 3K dollars it worked. I've been running heated - centrifudged wmo, atf, and such and the truck loves it. If I could do it again I'd buy a 5.9 and not deal with the deletes.
