I struggled without the extension cord for over a year until I realized how much easier it was to sit in the cab of the truck and work through issues. The extension cord is as valuable as the reader.

I might have run a 7.3 for 35k miles on jet A mixed with ashless two stroke and never had any problems. My mix was 2oz of oil per 5 gallons of fuel. I might have also run the same mixture in my ALH for 65k miles. Run it and buy your friend a case of beer.

I loved my 2003 Jetta ALH/5 speed combo. The only thing I would have loved more about it is if was a wagon or a B4S/B4V (late 1990s Passat). The thing drank anything I could feed it for 80k miles and maintenance was reasonable. The bodies are rotting away as they’re getting close to 20 years...
I have a similar setup with square LED lights mounted below my bumper and wired into the reverse so they illuminate when I shift into reverse and extinguish when the truck is in any other gear. Works well and then I added LED lights in the housing and that made an additional improvement.

Did you lube the filter gasket or is there anything sharp on the oil filter housing? In the picture it looks like the gasket is being bound up and squeezed together. That will cause a leak. I’ve always generously lubed the gasket and cleaned the housing with a cloth to prevent exactly what it...
When I had a 2003 ALH and glow plugs failed, it was a solid CEL not the flashing GP indicator. If you have access to a VCDS that would be ideal. Like previously mentioned the harness would be a good next step but I vaguely remember hearing stories about these PD engines needing some kind of...
Another vote for full. Don’t neglect the battery either so when you’re ready to fire it up you don’t get disappointed. And add some anti-mice stuff so no further disappointment.
I love it! I also love that Ram still makes manual transmissions for their 2500/3500 series trucks but can’t get over the rusting issues they’ve had up in the northeast. It really looks great!
Avoid. In the PSD world they’re worse than Chinese parts. I can’t imagine they’re better for IDI’s. There are several members of the group here who would serve you better. Why roll the dice.
The market is what someone is willing to value it. If money were no object and it was as good as it was being described, I’d pay his asking. Paying 14k for it now and then selling it for 5-10k in several years (not factoring any appreciation in) is no worse than financing a 50k 1/2 ton now and...
