Zf5 insane roll over noise

Any secrets on doing a rear main? I’m on #2 failed rear main first was felpro second was a national I’ve got the pan and plate to seal perfect twice but the seal not so much just got another coming tomorrow that has the plastic protector sleeve

I install it flush with back side and it’s not riding on a groove on the crank so I’m just lost on what I’m doing wrong

If you're able to get the pan off, I took the whole seal carrier off and pressed the seal on with a press to make sure it went on square. Hasn't leaked yet in about 2k miles.

Hm, that does sound like good idea to get it on strait but man is that a b**** to do in the truck

Yeah that's the only hiccup. I sealed mine when the engine was out.

The new one with the plastic sleeve? They go on dry. I call those the "install dry" seals because every one that I've seen actually says that on it.

I dunno about the sleeved variety but I did a standard one lubed up about 7 years ago. Used a block of wood and a dead blow to start it as square as I could. Took me a few tries to get it started right. No leaks!

All looks good to me. As for the lip, it's hard to say, the photo didn't focus on the edge that well.
