I have a 1999 Mitsubishi fuso fe that is having ip problems. It has a zexel tics pump on a 3.9L Mitsubishi. It's very hard to find any info on these pumps and from what I've found out it cost more to have them worked on than what my truck is worth. I'm pretty good at repairs but being it's all electronic I'm at my end. Wondering if anyone has knowledge of this system? Or even if I can change it out of a older mechanical IP? Thanks.

I actually scrapped an Isuzu W5 out of my fleet once because of this same issue. If I recall the pump was going to cost 8-10k!
Info on these import trucks is hard to find. Don’t give up till you dig a while. Maybe a used pump or even running engine.

What problems are you having?
Gallops at every rpm. Sometimes wants to run away but will shut off with key so not a true run away. Sometimes pure black smoke and next time I run it no excess smoke. Only time it doesn't gallop is when I pull the emergency shut off part way. I've been told that everything it's doing is classic tics electrical issues, and most likely it's the rack position control sensor. I took it off last week and checked wires and continuity. Apparently there's a voltage range that makes this sensor work in conjunction with the throttle and govenor. While I had it apart I could take a curved needle nose pliers and manually move it he pin and find a position to make it idle normally. I'll post a pic of the sensor

Thanks, thinking a used pump might be the way to go. Crazy part is I can get it he engine to run perfect except for the higher rpm when I pull the emergency shut off cable. I'll try to post a video

I know someone who may be able to help, I’ll run your issues by them and see what can be done.

That would be great. I've got a good video of what it's doing that I've been trying to post but it won't take it. I'll keep trying

Just wanted to reply here with my experience with the same/similar issues. Truck ran fine. Sat in the rain for a few days straight. On the following startup it revved high and died. Turned the key again and it went to redline rpm's. Did this on and off and then wouldn't start. After a few days it would start regularly but idle really rough, lobing idle. I tried a few different things. Finally I unplugged, inspected, and re-plugged the 8-pin harness that goes to the injector pump. Turned the key and it started/idled back to normal. Just being curious, I unplugged the 10-pin connection and tried starting again; back to the same rough idle symptoms. So it has to be corrosion or a loose wire in the 10-pin harness going to the injector pump, for me.
