With tool kit- shooting for the stars here, who has a deal on a boring bar for a guy? I'd drop around $1200 on one right now. Tired of being limited by zero machine shops locally and i have multiple projects that involve blocks getting cut. Let me know if anyone can help. Located in Illinois but will travel to pick up

I don't have one, but I've studied this as well. If I decide to actually "build" an engine or two, I'm definitely going to get my own boreing bar. It's cheaper than a machine shop and if you screw it up, you can only be mad at one person. Good luck, sir.

P.S. in all my googling, I think van Norman looks to be the most user friendly with the 3 pawls that spread out evenly.
