i went to all my local junkyards and only found one truck, mines a 92 7.3 with e40od, it shifts wonky since my speedo and odo died. I pulled this from a 94 gasser but am curious if the gas and diesel speedo are the same. It was an automatic truck as well

The VSS on the rear axle sends a signal to the P-Som, also indicates whether the ABS is working.
Did you ever change the VSS or check connections and wire harness?

The VSS and Tach sensors mix signals in the P-Som.

They're the same PSOM. Calibration may be different. It's based on tire size; has nothing to do with engine type. What was the donor truck?

I haven't worked on an OBS IDI, but I doubt the tach sensor goes through the PSOM.

Ok so an update I installed it tonight and it's exactly the same. The donor truck was a 93 flatbed f250 gasser with no tach. Speedo fit right in my 92 and plugs in and now shows odometer. Time to take it for a test drive

Problem fixed!!!!! So happy no Od light, speedo and odo work and the e40od is shifting like new!!! I have a brand new trans in it and it was so frustrating putting up with the erratic shifting. I bought the speedo for 13$ from pick a part and truck is shifting better than new ( have the banks trans module)

Good to hear. The donor most likely had 235/85R16 stock tires, which would likely match the stock calibration of your original PSOM.

It's very easy, simply pull the cluster and remove the 10 bolts holding the plastic clear face on. The only trick I had to figure out was how to pull the gauges. They are simply pins that push into sockets so you can pull each individual gauge with a soft pry on the edges. There's no bolts holding any of the gauges to the circuitry

Here she is, crazy how much a non functioning psom will throw out your trans. I simply plugged the new on in and read its mileage then added what would total my old trucks mileage under it so I know where my total mileage is at. My old one died at 351k !

Another plus is I'm getting full tc lockup now and look at that freeway rpms! And my gps is right on the money with the speedo. Gotta love the overdrive with the e40
