Hey all
Just bought this truck from up in ohio a few weeks ago. Now has 107k on it. IDI non turbo. Originally blue painted yellow. Real nice land yacht.

Been noticing a drip here and there, figured id crawl under and see whats what. When sticking a white towel up there, i had oil coming out of that little pipe that I'm not sure what does. And up above there out of that cover some light pink fluid. Anyone have an idea of whats going on?

Thanks

Yup, thats a drain tube for when the front seal on the shaft from the TC to trans pump leaks. At sometime or other that seal got hot and melted more than once, they usually heal up after getting hot once or twice, only solution now is to pull the trans and replce the seal with the new Viton seal.

Nice truck, don't like the Yellow but. Ya should have bought my 92, it's White. LOL

Changing that seal requires dropping the transmission and removing the torque converter (great time to replace it with a low-stall converter, if you're unsure how old your current TC is). It's the Front Pump Seal, I got my replacement here, since the OEM front pump seal is known to be failure prone.

If you, have never dropped an E4OD trans., ask questions here, when reinstalling the TC, it has to be done a certain way or it'll damage the pump possibly.

You may want to check your Transmission fluid level is too high, when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my e4od, I added like an 1/8th of a quart too much and it would drip from there for a couple days and then it went away.

My Sons always name our vehicles. Currently they call mine Big Nasty. When I bought it someone covered the whole truck with rhino liner and I had a fuel leak which made the truck stink. But my youngest said I should paint it yellow and call it Big Nugget! LOL I'll have to show him your truck later.

Well hell, gonna have to keep an eye on it I suppose. I got too much going right now to tear all that apart.

Yeah a few of my buddies named it Big Bird, i figured it suited it well!

5 or so drops per hours is a "leak" to us military folk. I wouldn't fuss with it until it came time to replace the torque converter...

Maybe try a bottle of Trans-x. It's a cheap thing to try
