It's an '87 F250. 7.3 with an ATS turbo. ZF5/4x4, resurfaced flywheel, new luk clutch. The owner says it ran great, ignition switch went out, so he parked it. I would be driving 8 hours to see the truck, toss a new ignition switch in, and drive it home ( hopefully) . I only want the engine, and wouldn't need the turbo ( I have one ) , so I could sell the turbo, trans., and take the rest to the metal yard for $90 per ton . Would you guys drive that far on this guy's word?

if I had the time... yes.

as long as it wasnt in your toyota :p

Hey, that Yota cruised from Medford to Oroville,CA at 90+ the whole way, blowing ice cold A/C when I sold it. ;p

I have the time, just not sure if I want to waste the money and risk getting a crap engine...

EDIT: He emailed me some pics. It looks really decent. Engine isn't caked with gunk, underneath looks clean, body looks straight, interior is decent.

Where is the truck, Maybe have a member go look at it for you ?

NV . I've seen a ton of pictures of it, I'm just worried about driving all the way down there, fixing the ignition, and having it either not fire, or fire and sound horrible. Then I'm stuck down there with a truck that I have to somehow tow home, then part out and try to get my money back. As of now, I am planning on taking the trip.

I was thinking about just taking a plane down there, as I've never been on one, and thought it would be kinda neat. Then, fix the ignition and drive it home. I really think that is what I am going to do. Plane tickets to NV are super cheap.

EDIT: The ignition switch is pretty simple to replace, right? I've never done one in these trucks, but I'm sure it wouldn't take very long... (?) .

get a buddy with a trailer, go pick up the thing, offer him 500 (or whatever you feel is reasonable) for it,just the parts you don't need are worth some cash, especially the 4x4 zf5 you know what these parts are worth.

ignition switch is super easy on these trucks. Pull off steering column cover and on the left side you will see the switch. if it is original it will probably have a safety torx, if it has been replaced before it is probably going to be hex heads. Remove the two bolts.. wiggle it out of the socket, plug new one in and bolt it down.
