Valve Cover Off - Abormal Buildup?

Wow.... Thats not looking very good. I see the old style 6.9 rockers. If your pulling the heads I suggest a valve job from the looks of the buildup flowing forwards like previously posted... Actually I agree with the posts about what causes this and how to fix it.....

I would think twice about adding ANYTHING home-brewed to the oil that may dislodge chunks of that buildup. If anything use something like AutoRX that is designed to slowly dissolve the crud.
Last thing you need is oil passages blocked, the oil PU in the pan blocked or, a filter clogged and that mess being bypassed and sent directly to the bearings.

X2 on that ! You run anything else through there to clean it fast with that kind of buildp and you will be replacing a bunch of lifters at the very least, or scoring a few crank journals at worst :eek: Use teh auto Rx to clean it safely
