Ok so I figured I'd post everything I can about this old soldier. The beginning,
I was traded this truck for some work, was told it was a '83 f350, diesel idi engine runs....maybe, ford 4spd trans , 2 spd splitter that was toast, 4 outta 6 rims, 4 tires...lol 1 had pressure in it, steering column pedal assy starter starter cables both doors front bumper and title all missing to include door sticker. Truck had been sitting in this farmers junk yard for 7 years and moved by pushing on the radiator support with his tractor bucket....was thinking maybe I'll use it for parts.

Ok so now I get it the 49 miles to my house and start the tear down. Whole front clip trashed from the farmers tractor bucket, oil pan beat in all the way to the pickup screen, fire under the dash so wireing harness toast, heater box burnt/ melted, hole cut in floor on transmission tunnel (can't figure why) shifter boot was (no **** no lie) a cowboy boot upper section with a hole punched in it for the shifter. Interior full of mice, and diesel soot from bad down pipe gasket and the hole in the tunnel. Red shag carpet interior water/sun and diesel damaged (read NASTY/TRASHED/ROTTEN/MILDEW).

Weellllll, there's really no sense in you wasting aallllll that time and effort on such an obscure piece of steel like that. People will probably look at you funny when you're driving it. May as well just ship it to an out of the way town in NW Florida to just be rid of it.

Here are all the details I've found out about her during the assessment, its a 1985 F Superduty. 7.3 idi with ATS turbo. 2 yes 2 42 gallon saddle tanks, custom RV driver and passenger seats, hide-a-bed rear seat, all the additions to the cab and the bed is heavy ( I mean heavy) guage steel. Engine was replaced/rebuild some time ago, it has over 450 psi on all 8 cyl. Only vin tag on the truck in on the dash and it runs through ford as a 1993 (***).? HAS 10.25 STERLING rear axle with 5.13 and a tru-trac locker, trans is t19 and there is a us gear 2spd UNDER DRIVE on her. The 2 5/16 gooseneck ball mounted in the bed is actually a damn mushroom shape now, the top 1/4 of the ball is worn right off.

So away I went. New interior, to include a set of seats from an 1986 e350 motorhome ,replaced heater/ac box, replaced wire harness ( underdash under hood), built a new steering column, installed a pedal assy, complete guage package to look after the vitals...

I got the engine purring now and drove her around town for 2 days...... damn!!! 4th gear will get me all the way to 57mph flat out!!!
I am jumping through hoops now for my state to get the title work completed so all work is at a stand still but next job will be a zf5 with the 2spd us gear ( newly rebuilt) mounted to her, then a gear swap to 3.73 rears.
