Turn signals come on with brake lights

Hello everybody. My issue today is a weird issue. So last night my ignition tumbler just stopped moving the ignition rod. So I feel like the linkage in the column came undone. But right when that happened I blew a brake light fuse. So I put a new fuse in and now my blinkers don’t work but they come on when the brake lights do. Even the front blinkers. I feel like something it grounding out inside the Column. Anybody ever have this happen?

You have a tilt wheel? If so, it's likely that the turn signal switch is failing or one of the steering column bearings is going out causing pressure on the switch body making it malfunction. Poking around under there to to manually manipulate the ignition switch rod might also put tension on the cable assembly going to the turn signal switch activating a short. Or some combination of the above. Or maybe the ignition switch is stuck in a halfway position where the contact wipers are crossing two contacts that aren't normally connected.

I took the steering wheel off to check it out. Turns out that the blinker electronics were rubbing on the back of the wheel, causing it to ground out.
