today was the first drive in the truck. pretty good. engine pulls harder at 2500+ rpm than it did before. under 2500rpm it is the same as with the old turbo and exhaust. boost maxed out at 7psi.

pretty disappointed in one thing though............my truck sounds like a gasser at anything over idle. the exhaust note is a VERY smooth sound. i guess my turbo is just not going to be a whistler either, truly saddened by thatLOL.

i adjusted the wg this morning. didn't do anything. i need to turn up my fuel sometime.

Probally won't see much of a difference in boost until those exhaust leaks are completely sealed up.
More fuel woulndt hurt either tho...

I noticed the exact same thing w/ my 60-1 wheel'd turbo. The power is definetely better (vs. my 93 IDIT) BUT the lack of whistle is a little of a bummer

how would the cold wheel effect hot side whistle?
I have no idea. Both my 93 and 94 had newly rebuilt turbos with straight pipe exhaust. The 60-1 wheel was noticeably quieter in the whistle department. Power wise it was much better.

well i have been driving my truck for that last few days. everything is working good. need to fix the exhaust leaks. they sound HORRIBLE. i have been paying more attention to the pyro. moderate to aggressive acceleration i am getting 5psi before 2500 rpm & ~650-700 egt. cruising on flat ground unloaded at 55mph in o/d i am getting ~350 egt. down low in the rpms it is the same as before, but 2500 + is wild. it pulls strong all the way to 3200 rpm, does not fall on it's face.

for those of you with auto trans, do you guys see about 2-3 psi lose during an up-shift, even while staying hard in the throttle?

Yep I lose 2-3 psi between shifts.
Trans shifts no load on engine boost drops till the trans grabs next gear and Rpms come back up

I make around 9psi max. Never really paid much attention to when and what the boost is doing. Just watch my EGT's and max boost on long hills and such with a heavy load.

Next time I go for a drive Ill get some numbers.

Here is how the downpipe turned out. i think i will weld it rather than have the clamp hold the tow halfs together.
