on mine I just made sure there wasn't any loose soot/buildup and assembled. "they say" as you run it the leaks (if any) tend to seal themselves. The only problem area I've heard of is the "slip-joint" on the up-pipe. Mine's working great so far.
i have a factory ATS on my 94 7.3.
no seal on the cast pieces other than gold RTV.
mine leaks. i do not like this set up at all.
when i have extra cash for this project, i will fab up some better up piping.
IMO its a hokey design, but i still peek at 10 PSI
I've had excellent luck using a little stove pipe cement on the casting just prior to assembly. you have to be careful not to get it inside the up-pipes, as it'll dry hard and could wreak havoc on the turbo if it comes loose and gets into the wheel though. I used some on both my old used 088 setup, and used it again on my brand new Aurora 2000 kit when I installed it and have had zero leaks.
