turbo install, do i put anything on the cast joints on a factory setup

Does this actually seal up? Should I put something on the mating surfaces? I feel like its going to leak.

on mine I just made sure there wasn't any loose soot/buildup and assembled. "they say" as you run it the leaks (if any) tend to seal themselves. The only problem area I've heard of is the "slip-joint" on the up-pipe. Mine's working great so far.

i have a factory ATS on my 94 7.3.
no seal on the cast pieces other than gold RTV.
mine leaks. i do not like this set up at all.
when i have extra cash for this project, i will fab up some better up piping.
IMO its a hokey design, but i still peek at 10 PSI

If your asking about the up pipe, then the answers are.... its supposed to, your best rabbits foot or other lucky charm, and it will. haha

I have new castings, solves the problem.

I've had excellent luck using a little stove pipe cement on the casting just prior to assembly. you have to be careful not to get it inside the up-pipes, as it'll dry hard and could wreak havoc on the turbo if it comes loose and gets into the wheel though. I used some on both my old used 088 setup, and used it again on my brand new Aurora 2000 kit when I installed it and have had zero leaks.
