As I said in the other thread, Post #4 about the TC motor that it wouldn't move even when it's off the TC.

So I tore it down. If anyone else has to, you have to keep the Position Sensor in relation to quadrant gear position, that's the Black plastic module. Mark the gear position so that it's in the same position as when it waas taken off.

I found nothing wrong with the gears or position sensor module. Now to re-install it and apply 12VDC at the motor, hopefully it will move the TC to a position that will indicate 2wd, 4wd Hi or 4wd Lo. I'm going to set the in cab switch to 2wd then stop when I get the 2wd lite. Going to remove the positioning relays. If nothing moves, then it's TC tear down time.

I hate this electric 4wd crap we have to deal with now... Yeah it is nice to turn a knob and have 4wd but I keep having issues with my F150 when I need 4wd! Its just piece of mind being able to turn in the lockouts and pull a lever to lock everything in rather than hopeing the computer magically makes it happen! LOL

Computer? That's all electromechanical. Still way unduly complicated, compared to a simple lever sticking out of the floor.

So are ALL the SD trucks ESOF? Is this yet another reason to hang onto ones OBS for dear life?

Not all. Some were still mechanical.
I know the 02 f550 work truck I drove was manual with manual only hubs.
