I have searched, but I guess I am just no good at it. Here is what I have and what I would like to do.

I have an 84 4x4 6.9idi with a turbo engineering turbo kit on it. This truck has the c-6 tranny in it. I also have a 91 2wd with a stock 7.3idi, but with a 5 speed. The 91 is a pretty beat up unit and the 84 looks factory new.

I would like to put the 5 speed in the 84. Will the transfer case from the c-6 bolt to the ZF? I have read that there are divorced transfer cases I can use, but I don't know what one, or if I even need one.

Thanks for the help.

Same, IF your ZF-5 was a 4X4, yes the transfer case would bolt right up. Since your 2WD ZF is not a 4X4 however, you can't use that transmission. The only way to convert it to 4X4 would be a new ZF housing, and now your talking too much time and money. Now if you don't mind converting the truck from 4X4 to 2WD, then of course you can use it. Just delete the transfer case and front drive shaft, and get a different rear driveshaft.

So I need to find a divorced NP205. I wonder what is going to be harder to find. The divorced 205, or a ZF5 for a 4x4? The search is on...........

The transfer case will be the harder thing to find. You need to find a 77 or older F250 "high boy" to find a divorced unit.
A ZF from any 87-97 diesel truck will work for you though, so, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

If youre interested, I come across zf5's for 4x4 diesels all the time. Around where Im at they usually run between 150 and 300 dollars. Ive been planning to pick a couple up but dont have the funds at the moment.

PM me next time you find one. I have a friend who is in florida all the time and wouldn't have any problems bringing it back to Texas for me.

Actually I think I found a tranny transfer case combo for 400. Let see if I can find the link.
