They are never meant to be used on a manual trans. The ONE time you forget to leave it in neutral....well, welcome to prison and bankruptcy.

When installing a remote start on a manual, it first has to be capable, not all support manual transmissions. Then when installed right, the system makes you put on the ebrake and get out of the vehicle running and then you close the door and it will shut down. Idea behind this is your not going to get out of your vehicle while its moving, so theres no way it will move when it starts. Also if the door is open before remote start, the system is no longer "armed" and will not start until you go through the sequence of starting it up, putting the ebrake on and exiting the vehicle.

To install into a manual only takes two extra wires, one hooked to the dome light )dome light senses all doors when opened) and the ebrake switch so it knows if its on, also the start wire does NOT hook up to the ignition switch, it goes after the Neutral Saftey Switch.

Any remote start not done correctly can be a major hazard, be it auto or manual, but done correctly they are safe.

I stand corrected, but how does it set the fast idle and cold start advance?

Cold start advance turns itself on.
High idle isn't a necessity, but it does help.

As stated above, cold advance is automatic, high idle is accomplished with a actuator, most units have an output that triggers after start for a programed time (e.g. 0.5-10s) that can be used to pull the throttle cable to set high idle. We used to use door lock actuators with ball chain connected to the throttle (don't want a solid connection in case the actuator gets stuck) and it worked just fine.

On my 6.5l I just leave the high idle clicked on when I get out so when I push start it cranks right off to 1200rpm. That sound will scare the socks right off anyone near! Lol

I took the high idle off my 6.2 when I swapped it in.
Started and warmed up just fine. That engine had a flexfan.

Could get one of these high idle kits. http://www.alligatorperformance.com/product-p/adp-rock.htm LOL

In all seriousness, get one of the "throttle control cables."
Can't remember the exact name. They're used a lot on older big trucks.
You twist it out to bring rpm up, then push in the center to let it down.

I guess that would just be one of those things to make sure you have it turned before you go in every night so that the next morning you will be good to go.

Only thing that sucks with the manual is having to have the parking brake on in the winter. I know usually if they are lubed up and cleaned well then they don't stick but we have all been there at least once in our life when the damn thing wouldn't release for while and trying to pop it loose.

Also as posted above, these trucks do put off some sound on high idle especially inside of a metal garage lol. Mine is stock and still gets me occasionally in there, I couldn't imagine an aftermarket one :rotflmao

Mine were freezing in the first few days of driving it after it had been sitting for a year.

After that, I haven't had a problem.

But I carry a bfh just in case.
