The engineers in Ft. Wayne probably get to keep their jobs, while those who slaved away to impliment their ideas are the ones who get punished.
That is because it is the mind which is truly prized. Strong backs and weak minds are expendable. If only my mind was sharper when my back was stronger.

You're looking at the very base trim, those have been butt-ugly for years. The truck that new diesel is supposed to go in is as ugly as home-made sin!

as a side not about the i6 vs v8. the reason ford and chevy went with a v8 platform is smoother operation and better torque curve. the v8's arent lumpy with a NARROW powerband like the i6. I dont personally like the cummins i6. we see them from time to time in the f650 and it sounds like a piece of farm equipment and shifts constantly to stay in a power range. the 6.0 (granted not a great motor) is much smoother and more user friendly in the SAME truck.
the scorpion is supposed to be decent, its a modified land rover design that they where working on coming out with when they folded. Im sure ford will find some ingenious way to botch it up, but after a few years they will get the kinks out and we may have another reasonably reliable motor (kinda like the 7.3 powerchoke).
the days of dead reliable idi's are gone. emissions and the technology taught engineers want a computer to do the thinking and an automatic tranny to keep things in check. electronics are excellent in a test lab, but the real world is ******* them and thats why our trucks cruise by the broke down ones on the side of the highway. most things can pass us when they are running, but our trucks will out live most all of them, and its sad to think that they arent built and what we have is all there is.
