1985 f350- assuming I have a lower and upper due to having cruise control? if I don't use it can I just buy a cable that's as long as the upper and lower and just run one cable??

Wut?...
You don't have a tachometer cable...
You have a cruise control cable that piggybacks off the throttle cable.

That’s the speedometer cable. The electronic gizmo is the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), and yes, you need to keep it for the cruise to work. Not sure how they sell them. If it’s 2 different cables, or a with cruise option at the parts store that’s both cables.

I don't use cruise though so I can get rid of it and just run one single cable?

I did, but never got the Rabs light to go off after till I put it back on. was on the old 85 cc flatbed I used to have. As soon as I put the old cable and vss on the Rabs light turned back off. Just went back to the jumpy speedometer needle.

Bullnose (80-86) trucks don’t have RABS. The RABS also doesn’t run off the speedometer cable VSS. The VSS for RABS is I the rear differential.

I have only 1 cable on my 86. Did have CC but removed. I think I used original cable (before the sensor) & it fit.

on edit: My speed sensor was mounted at tranny. Not like yours under hood
