edit: if a fiberglass railed shell, curious if the mounting brackets are in good shape/there also. Junkyard always has the damn things missing off the trucks

Its got a hood on it.unless i missed the rot hole in the middle of the hood,theres no water getting in there.

Too bad im so far from everybody.ive got a couple nice rear bumpers,atleast 5 rust free front doors,a rust free rear CC door.can also get my hands on a NOS painted but never put on truck 92-97 tailgate.

To bad indeed. If be interested in that tailgate. I like that my 94 is the latest rendition of these models but it seems I would've been better served to get a 91. Almost all the IDIs I see around my area are 87-91. I suppose the Ford diesels feel out of favor between 92-94 because there is a good number of Powerstroke trucks. Of course, most of the people I have some to think all the 90 model Ford diesels are Powerstroke. Sigh... anyways, I'm rambling lol

The reason you find more psds than idis is cuz 92-94.5 were the last 2.5 years of the idi.

My take is why was the turbo removed. Look at the block serial numbers to know if this is an actual turbo block. Find out why the rig was parked before you buy it. The engine and trans might be junk or near that. Looks like a nice but dirty rig. Can it be cleaned up. Whats the tire condition on it. Lets say you buy it and tow it home. Rats are going to have made a nest in the heater box so clean that out before you run the heater. Or the rat *** smell will nearly kill you in the cab. As for rain water getting into the intake.. sure can and does happen. All it takes is the cowl to hood seal breaking down. Then rain water drips on top of most air filter box's and if the steel and rubber washer has been lost and replaced under the filter box lid wing nut you will have an intake full of rain water. This even happened to Mel on one of his trucks. He felt the engine lock up and did not try to continue cranking. Removed glow plugs and pushed out plenty of rain water. Lucky for him it was not a long time sitting and no cylinder or rod damage happened. I realize this engine was a turbo so that means no rain water can get into the intake but. Can it happen when the intake is open like this??? Who really wants to be the test dummy for that. Might want to hand crank the engine with a breaker bar and a 15/16 socket and short extension. Before hand crank please check the oil to see if its way over full. thats a real indication the oil has coolant or rain water in it. Cranking the engine will suck the water thru the oil pump. Remember that water is heavier than oil so it will drop thru the oil and fill the pan. Also the oil pump is very hig up off the bottom of the oil pan so it might be free of water. All this is guessing but a good place to start planning how to bring back and engine like this.

If you buy this I'd be interested in taking the ZF5 off your hands, hard to find one locally and you're not far. Depending on what he'll take for the truck that trans could make it almost free. Unless it's 2wd... Can't tell and not sure if the new trucks got those electric transfer cases.

I will check up on it again in a week or two. I'm working 7pm-7am and have a 2hr drive on each side of the shift so time is really tight for the next week or better. The truck is 2wd.

Don't be surprised if they want more than $500. I just took a a Aerostar van to the junk man. He gave me 10 cents a pound for it. It weighed almost 3500lbs. I bet that truck weighs at least 5000 lbs. He could take it to the junk man and get over $500 for it.
