If you have never done a sound system before this is the easiest way to do it. 99% of the time wires do not go bad it is just the system (speakers, headunits etc..) themselves that are the problem.

With this system you plug it right into your factory plug, it also allows for you to run extra speakers as well. (I used this but soldered the wires together)

the thing is, i didnt have a plug going into the factory radio. the wires just went straight into it, so i had to cut them to get the radio out.

there should be a plug somewhere in the dash then, might be hidden somewhere and stuck on a bracket, but it'll be there if you just cut the wires off of the deck

if not, take a test light or multimeter and check the wires, with ignition on, you should have power to one or two of your wires, if there's power to two, then you have a constant (will be yellow on a new deck) and a switched (red on new deck), turn the ignition off and check them again, the one that turned off is obviously the switched, if you only have a switched power wire, you need to run one to the battery

the one with the plug is the antenna

the rest will be a ground and the speaker wires

to find the ground, repeat the test above with a known power wire, and touch the others one at a time to find the ground using a test light or multimeter

after you know the ground, put power to one of the remaining wires, then touch them one at a time to a ground, when you hear a noise from a speaker, those two are a speaker pair

but as I said, you should have the factory plug somewhere in your dash still, just follow the radio wires to it

i dont have those colors, the ones that went into the factory radio are: pink/blue, black, pink/light green, orange/green, and white/green. those go in on one side, and the other side has blue/red, pink/green and orange/blue. those are the only wires i have. and only 1 tests as switched, cant find a constant.

Depending on which stereo you had, there may not be a plug, and if if it's an old 2 post analog radio, there won't have been a constant power source either. I usually tap into the cigarette lighter power feed for that.
From the sounds it, the existing stereo is wired with a common ground for the speakers. This is not something you will want to keep, so you're best off just to run new wiring.

I did the same thing in my 1996 F150. When it blew up, it unplugged and went right into the F250. By far the easiest way to put in an aftermarket deck....just match the colors up and plug it in!
