I was saying before about how I thought I had fuel delivery issues, well I was poking around with the fuel lines to look for a kink. I found one where someone had coupled the line in a loop without enough radius so it is pinching the line. Well I got to thinking and.... :***: thats where the fuel water separator is supposed to reside. Well I pull the fuel filter off and well I'll be damned nice milky diesel. Think that would cause a running out of fuel type symptom?

my very own hell
Oh yah, that pinched fuel hose will starve your engine, and having water in the fuel will make for little power even if you are getting the fuel flow. I think a 7.3 filter head with the built-in water separator should be in order for you.

In my experience, a fuel filter full of water will make the truck act just like it ran out of fuel, I fought that one for a couple days first winter I had my 6.9 on the road and was running it off of the big 130 gallon in bed tank, could prime it up, get good clean fuel coming out of the filter and all would be well for a while, maybe 5 miles, maybe 50, then it would lose it's prime and you'd have to bleed it again, and sometimes it wasn't very cooperative about it. I even had it do it with an electric pump hooked up as a pusher behind the mechanical. None of the water in the filter ever did make it into the IP. Changed the filter and it's been fine ever since, and, I've never had a water separator on it.

You can use a water block from tsc just to help the other filter block the water from getting in Your IP. I have one on My truck right after the electric pump to help catching any residue and water that could come from the tank.

Yes this is for my "new addition". Thanks for the info guys, for now I have started using the rear tank as it has been dry since I got it. I'll look into getting some sort of fuel water seperator

I guess no "New" truck is without issues

So another issue with the new rig, when I'm in third doing about 55 pulling a hill a loud knocking noise appears. It doesnt sound like a rod knock, not a deep enough sound. Its also not RPM dependent, I can run it up on the governor and it wont mind it just does it under load, then when I let off it will fade away and I can get back on the throttle again. Sorry for all the problem questions guys! :idiot:
